Gesell’s teammates Jarryd Cole and Iowa junior Melsahn Basabe scored 24 and 22 points, respectively. Iowa sophomore Aaron White scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and incoming Iowa freshman point guard Anthony Clemmons scored 20 in the loss.

In the nightcap, Iowa junior Zach McCabe scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds while teammate and Iowa walk-on Jarrod Uthoff scored 16 points with 10 rebounds in their team’s win. Iowa junior Devyn Marble led all scorers with 24 points in the loss.

Next week’s playoff semifinals are set. The 1 vs. 4 match-up at 3 p.m. features McCabe, Uthoff and incoming Iowa freshman Adam Woodbury against Gesell, Basabe and Cole. The 2 vs. 3 game is set for 4:30 p.m. and boasts White, Clemmons and Iowa senior Eric May against Marble and Iowa sophomore Gabe Olaseni. The championship game is set for 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24.
