Benton County deputies have arrested a Shellsburg man for using a cattle prod on a 16-year-old girl.

Eric Kolsrud, 50, is charged with assault causing bodily injury and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Kolsrud is accused of using a “Hot Shot” shocking device that’s used on livestock on a teenage girl following a dispute. Deputies also say Kolsrud told a 15-year-old girl who lived in the same house that she had to lie to officers if they asked her about the incident.

Kolsrud appeared in court Friday morning for his initial appearance and was released on his own recognizance.
