Former University of Iowa two-time All-American and Lisbon prep Ryan Morningstar and a source close to the program confirmed that he has accepted a full-time assistant coach on the Hawkeye wrestling staff.

Morningstar graduated in 2010 and served as an assistant for University of Wisconsin head coach Barry Davis last season.

"I have accepted a job at the university of Iowa,” Morningstar messaged The Gazette, “and I couldn't be more excited to return home.”

Morningstar expects to take over the spot of interim assistant Mike Zadick, a position he held the last two seasons. Iowa has not officially announced the hire.

Morningstar was a four-time NCAA qualifier for the Hawkeyes. He contributed to two Iowa national team titles when he placed third at the 2009 NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo., and then seventh as a senior, suffering torn ligaments in his knee, in Omaha, Neb.
