Authorities in the north-central Iowa city of Rockford say a man has been taken for treatment and psychological evaluation after stabbing himself.

The Mason City Globe Gazette says the stabbing was reported just before noon on Monday.

Floyd County Sheriff Rick Lynch says a woman had seen the man pacing in the street near her home. She noticed blood on his upper torso after he took off a shirt.

She told deputies she tossed aside a knife he’d placed on the curb, and then she called 911.
