Train hits semi along Highway 6 in Coralville
Apr. 16, 2012 9:45 pm
A semi-trailer truck hauling dirt was struck by a train around noon Monday.
The crash happened along Highway 6 in Coralville, near Interstate 80.
Crews are currently on scene cleaning up the mess. The semi appears to have split in two, with the cab on the south side of the tracks and the trailer on the north side.
Authorities say the driver of the semi was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Highway 6 remains open in both directions, but the railroad crossings at Deer Creek and at 25th Avenue in Coralville are blocked, city officials said. Crews are expected to be on scene for some time.
