Police investigate homicide at Cedar Rapids show club
Apr. 16, 2012 2:45 pm
UPDATE: Investigators are looking for clues after a man was killed Monday morning at a southwest Cedar Rapids club.
Police arrived at Woody's Show Club, 9395 Sixth St. SW, at about 12:45 a.m. to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency crews rushed him to a local hospital. The victim died shortly after from his injuries.
Investigators believe the man was shot in the Woody's parking lot. Police tape was used to section off a portion of the parking lot on the south side of the business, and police spent hours using flashlights looking for evidence outside.
Police said the incident happened while the club was open, so they have located witnesses. Police have been conducting interviews and questioning those people throughout the morning. Through all of the searching, though, investigators have not named any suspects. Police will also search through surveillance video in hopes of coming up with more answers.
Authorities are not revealing the victim's name until family members can be notified.
