Ushers Ferry offers camping opportunities for scouts

Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation’s Ushers Ferry Historic Village is offering camping opportunities for Girl and Boy Scouts in May.

Cub Scout Overnight Activity Award – Cub Scouts will have a blast while fulfilling many of the requirements for the Outdoor Activity Award with this overnight camp at Ushers Ferry on May 4 at 6:00 p.m. through May 5 at 8:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be served on Saturday morning. Campers supply their own sleeping bags and tents. The fee is $30 per scout. Call (319) 286-5707 to register your troop.

Daisies’ Night Out! – This two hour program at Ushers Ferry on May 11 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. will give the youngest of scouts a small taste of what a camp-out is really like. Campers will enjoy outdoor activities including roasting marshmallows over a campfire. The fee is $12 per scout. Call (319) 286-5707 to register your troop.

Girl Scout Overnight – Brownies and Juniors are invited to experience a night under the stars at Ushers Ferry on May 11 at 6:00 p.m. through May 12 at 8:30 a.m. They will learn new skills, find their inner camp chef, take a nature hike, and gather around a campfire. Juniors can earn their camping badge. A light breakfast will be served on Saturday morning. Campers supply their own sleeping bags and tents. The fee is $30 per scout.
