Gun laws are out of control in U.S.

The National Rifle Association has run amok and is taking the country with it. NRA is a total misnomer. Better NAWABARA: National Any Weapon Any Body Any Reason Association.
NRA used to stand for gun safety and protecting sport use. Now it lobbies with great success for right to carry, must issue and stand your ground. They have moved well beyond concern for the Second Amendment.
The NRA intimidates legislatures and governors with its might in the form of campaign money and, yes, sometimes their weapons. Why else do some members show up at political events with rifles? I've been there and been shown a weapon by someone wanting to emphasize a political point.
Now a case in point - Florida. A cop wannabe should simply never be driving around with a loaded weapon. Real cops know weapons and how to use them. But is it the fault of Florida police when there is no arrest? Fault the so-called Florida “stand your ground” law which, incidentally, recently passed the Iowa House. Fault the overreaching NRA and a system that yields them so much power.
