More trouble for former Iowa running back Brandon Wegher, who quit the team prior to the 2010 season. He rushed for 641 yards and eight TDs as a true freshman for Iowa’s ’09 Orange Bowl championship team.

  1. Pathetic. How far will this young man slide before he stops? He needs help. I strongly suggest he join the Army or the Marine Corps and let them shake him down and square him away. After football conditioning at the hands of Chris Doyle, the physical training part of the program would be a breeze. It’s the discipline he needs.

  2. First, I am curious of how Cole Wegher’s age. I suppose my brothers and I should have had hundreds of domestic abuse charges as kids/young adults. It happens. The only reason Brandon Wegher is treated differently is his size. In fact, the law itself is worded so that simply fear or appearance of a perceived threat is cause to charge for domestic assault. I’m not sure Mr Wegher’s personality or demeanor can be depicted from such an allegation.
Domestic Abuse is technically present if someone yells at another, and the recipient claims it as a threat. Law Enforcement are trained to charge the most threatening subject. In other words if a dispute between two parties results in a response from law, the bigger person is likely to be charged or more innocent (appearing) is the victim. Many times the man versus the woman despite the woman may have been the actual threat. Officers are simply not trained enough, or take enough time to investigate in most cases. They make a judgement call. this law needs to change. Separate the parties, but do not charge based on judging stories of interested parties.

  3. Marc:

He hasn’t been a Hawkeye for two seasons. Out of curiousity (and barring a significant Powerball win) how long will we still keep seeing stories about him? He’s a young guy that can’t seem to get his life straight and apparently doesn’t have any guidance but rather enablers. I guess I don’t see the public interest in this guy.
