It's Year 9 and Team 3 for Robert Gallery, NFL offensive lineman from East Buchanan High School and the University of Iowa.

At long last, he's on a good team.

Monday, Gallery signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots.

Gallery experienced a lot more winning than losing when he played for the Hawkeyes, but then he was the No. 2 pick in the 2004 NFL draft and went to the Oakland Raiders.

They call the rowdiest section of Oakland's stadium "The Black Hole." It applies to the franchise in general.

Gallery was with the Raiders for seven seasons, and only once were they better than 5-11. That was 2010, his final season with them, when they went 8-8. A free agent, Gallery hooked up with the Seattle Seahawks last year. They went 7-9.

His teams were 40-88 over his eight years.

Gallery was hurt much of last season, and was released by the Seahawks last week. He didn't stayed unemployed long.

Good grief. Robert Gallery is entering his 9th NFL season? You know what? Time flies.
