IOWA CITY — An Iowa City mother turned herself in Friday for child endangerment charges after doctors discovered alcohol in her 22-month-old child’s system.
According to Iowa City Police, 26-year-old Natasha Kriener, 2018 Waterfront Dr. #53, turned herself in at about 5 p.m. Friday.
Police said the father took the child to the Emergency Room at a local hospital Wednesday, where alcohol was discovered in the 22-month-old’s system.
Kriener is the primary caregiver for the child, and was caring for the child prior to this incident, police said.
According to the Johnson County Jail, Kriener is still in custody on a $15,000 cash-only bond as of Friday at 7:30 p.m. She is scheduled for an initial appearance Saturday morning.
Police said they couldn’t specify the child’s gender, blood alcohol content, or any further details at this time.
