LA CROSSE, Wis. — Led by freshmen Audrey Manternach and Dylan Walters, the Mount Mercy women’s bowling team finished fourth and the men ninth at the V-Hawk Invitational hosted by Viterbo (Wis.) over the weekend at Pla Mor Lanes.
Manternach narrowly missed the top 10 for the Mustangs, coming in 11th with a total of 900 pins. Freshman Naomi Fisher was 15th (889), freshman Hillary Prokop 20th (870), senior Mariah Early 23rd (866) and freshman Kathryn Wheeler 26th (853). Viterbo won the event with a total score of 6,583, followed by Ashford (6,382), St. Ambrose (6,298) and Mount Mercy (6,104).
On the men’s side, Walters finished 21st with 895 pins. Freshman Ryan Miller placed 27th (870), freshman Nathan Wright 38th (809), freshman Austin Czerwiec 53rd (607), senior Jamie Zaruba 59th (508) and freshman Austin Patterson 64th (341). St. Ambrose was the men’s pin leader with 6,912. Viterbo was next (6,851), then St. Ambrose “B” (6,685), Ashford (6,655), Winona State (Minn.) (6,547). The Mustangs were ninth with 5,945.
In two weeks, Mount Mercy will compete in its first Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships, traveling to Cherry Lanes in Dubuque on Feb. 11-12.
