Iowa freshman Aaron White earns Big Ten honor

IOWA CITY — Iowa freshman Aaron White earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after two solid statistical outings last week in a pair of wins.

White, a 6-foot-8 forward from Strongsville, Ohio, averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a game in Iowa's wins against Central Arkansas and Boise State last week. White shot 66.7 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the foul line.

White previously earned league co-freshman of the week honors on Nov. 14 after scoring 19 points in the Hawkeyes' opener against Chicago State.

Iowa (8-5) opens Big Ten play on Wednesday at home against Purdue (8:30 p.m.).
