Urbandale man enters plea in attempted murder of police officer
An Urbandale man facing attempted murder and willful injury charges entered a written arraignment and not guilty plea in Johnson County District Court Thursday.
Branden L. Plummer, 20, who was a University of Iowa student at the time of the Nov. 18 incident, is accused of choking an Iowa City police officer, Sgt. Brian Krei, after he was stopped for obstructing traffic at the intersection of Burlington and Linn streets.
Police received a tip that led to Plummer's arrest at his Iowa City residence Nov. 29.
A pre-trial conference has been set for Feb. 10, with a jury trial to follow on Feb. 21.
Plummer remains in the Johnson County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Earlier this month, a judge
denied requests to lower Plummer's bond to allow him to finish classes at the University of Iowa.
