Goverment taking away freedoms one by one

April 3, 2014 | 9:12 am

The socialists are here and they are taking our freedoms one by one.

The government announced restrictions on the use of teenagers for farm work. This made some farmers furiously mad with this loss of a freedom.

It was announced that the U.S. Border Patrol was to no longer deport illegal people. It appears that the government wants them here to vote in the 2012 elections. The freedom of honest elections will suffer.

The government ruled that 100-watt incandescent light bulbs couldn’t be marketed after January, with the elimination of other sizes later. The new bulbs have mercury in them, which makes them hazardous if broken. Loss of another freedom.

The government is not approving any oil drilling permits for the Gulf of Mexico. Our government, however, promised to loan $5 billion to Brazil so that they can drill for oil off their coast and sell the oil to us. The money to loan to them comes from China. With a $15 trillion debt, should the U.S. be loaning money to anyone?

The proposed Keystone XL pipeline from Alberta, Canada, to Texas would create tens of thousands of U.S. jobs and reduce the amount of oil we need to get from countries that hate us. This project has passed all of the reviews, but approval by President Obama is on hold until after the 2012 election for political reasons. Rejection would be another freedom lost.

ObamaCare, forcing people to buy health insurance, is another freedom lost.
