Slick roads were blamed for a fatality accident Monday morning near Marengo.
Authorities said the driver of a sport-utility vehicle was killed when she attempted to pass another vehicle around 6:45 a.m. about a half-mile west of the city limits on Highway 6. Witnesses said the eastbound SUV went out of control when it crossed a frost-covered section of pavement, according to the Iowa County sheriff's office.
Deputies determined the SUV rolled several times into the north ditch. The driver, whose name has not been released, was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected. An ambulance took her to Marengo Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the driver was the only one in the SUV. An investigation was continuing.
