DYERSVILLE — Mayor Jim Heavens expects the revamp of the “Field of Dreams” movie site in Dyersville to cost around $22 million.

The site, which became a tourist attraction after the movie was released in 1989, was recently sold, and the new owners plan to build a youth baseball and softball training complex on some of the land.

Heavens said the money for the project would come from a combination of sources: the property owners, private investors, local tax dollars and — depending on the outcome of a meeting later this month with Gov. Terry Branstad — possibly state funding.
