UPDATE: All lanes of Highway 13 have reopened after a serious crash Tuesday at the corner of 29th Avenue in Marion.
Officers responded around 7:40 a.m. to the corner of Highway 13 and 29th Avenue after a pickup broadsided a car in the southbound lanes. It appeared from the location of the wreckage that the car turned in front of the pickup, which belongs to the Linn County secondary roads department.
Lt. Scott Elam confirmed that an extrication team responded to the scene. He said one person was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.
Linn County Engineer Steve Gannon said a county employee was driving the pickup on his way to do some survey work. He was the only one in the pickup and was not injured.
Police have not released the names of those involved, pending notification of family members.
Southbound traffic was diverted onto 29th Avenue while investigators tried to reconstruct the accident. The highway was reopened around 11 a.m.
