This will become a rivalry in the same way Nebraska and Iowa St. were a rivalry. Or the way Iowa and Ohio St. are rivals. Oh wait, those aren’t rivalrys, those are just games where the team in red gets to wipe their feet on their doormats from Iowa year after year.
Lets give Ferentz a raise, and extend His contract out to 2030, and give Him a big ole thanks for being 8 and 3 against Minnesota, our true rival. Or better yet, lets thank Him for being 6-7 against Ia. St, or 5-6 against Northwestern our other rivals.
I should give Ferentz credit for being better than 50% against Michigan and Penn St., but lets face it, both of those teams are mere shadows of what they were in the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s.
There are two teams in the Big 10 that have been consistently good during the Ferentz era, Ohio St, and Nebraska(the new kids on the block), against them we’re 1-7 and 0-3 respectively. Get used to it, we’ve got 3.8 million a year worth of coach, that likes to regularly head to the locker room with 30-40 seconds left on the clock, and time outs to burn. And lets prepare the fans, and groom the players in advance of humiliating losses by reminding them that “Iowa’s not sexy”
Nebraska isn’t sexy,and they’ve got 5 national championships and a Heroes game trophy, why is that? The only thing in our trophy case lately is Ferentz’ pay stubs.
Were paying for caviar, and getting sour grapes people. Take off the rose colored glasses, quit excepting, and justifying a coach that is incapable of regularly beating the little guys like Iowa ST.( no offense Iowa St. I love you too) let alone eek out a win against a truly good team.
