JANESVILLE - An 11-year-old boy died Monday in rural Janesville after being hit by his school bus, the Iowa State Patrol said last night.
Justin Bradfield of Janesville was among the students being dropped off at a stop along Dakota Avenue just before 4 p.m. The patrol said he dropped something and was struck when he walked back in front of the bus to retrieve it.
The Janesville Consolidated school district bus was being driven by Michaela Siems-Dighton, 38, of Cedar Falls, according to the patrol's report.
The accident remained under investigation last night. An email to school district Superintendent Steve Gray wasn't immediately returned.
Janesville is about 10 miles north of Cedar Falls.
