CEDAR RAPIDS – A 26-year-old Cedar Rapids man suffered from possible head injuries after crashing his Suzuki motorcycle into a Chevrolet pickup truck Saturday, authorities said.
According to Cedar Rapids police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, 22-year-old Eric Kriegermeier was in a Chevy pickup truck waiting to pull out of the Guppy's on the Go, 235 Edgewood Rd. NW, when Curtis Tichy, of Cedar Rapids, was stopped behind the driver, revving the engine, when he lost control of the motorcyle and hit the pickup.
“It was a pretty good hit,” Perez said, noting that the driver left the scene uninjured, but the truck sustained a fair amount of damage at the rear quarter panel of the vehicle.
The motorcycle, however, appeared to be nearly totaled in front and ultimately not drivable, Perez said.
Tichy was transported by Area Ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Perez said.
Hamblin said no charges were filed because the incident took place on private property.
