Former Hawkeye Brandon Wegher arrested in Council Bluffs

Faces eluding, public intoxication charges

Former Iowa running back Brandon Wegher was arrested and charged with eluding a police officer and public intoxication Wednesday in Council Bluffs, according to Iowa Courts Online.

Wegher, 20, allegedly was drunk and eluded Council Bluffs police officers on Oct. 13 and a warrant was issued to apprehend Wegher. No other information was immediately available. Wegher was arrested Wednesday and posted a $600 surety bond. No future court date was set.

Wegher played for Iowa in 2009 and scored an Iowa freshman-record eight rushing touchdowns that season. He quit midway through Iowa's 2010 training camp. He now attends Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs.
