Police confirmed Tuesday that 88-year-old Eugene Fisher, of Hiawatha, was killed in a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident early Saturday morning.

According to a news release, the Hiawatha Police Department was dispatched at 2:33 a.m. to Robins Road, near Tower Terrace Road, for reports of a person lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers declared Fisher as deceased.
