Police said a teenager who was shot in the leg Tuesday evening has been released from the hospital.
Jose Cruz, 18, of Chicago, was shot in the left leg shortly after 7 p.m. in the area of 4050 21st Ave. SW, police said. Officers received reports of three to five shots fired, but did not find any victim when they arrived.
About 20 minutes later, police were called to St. Luke's Hospital when Cruz arrived with a gunshot wound. Cruz told investigators he had just gotten out of a van to go into a business when three men confronted him and swore at him.
Cruz told police the men started chasing him, and one shot at him. He did not know the suspects, nor did he know why they were upset.
Officers at the scene were searching the area when they saw a few men matching the description of the suspects near the post office on Wiley Boulevard SW. As they attempted to talk to them, one man tried to run, but was stopped at the post office fence.
Leslie K. Stokes, 19, address unknown, was arrested on suspicion of interference with official acts. An investigation was continuing to determine who was responsible for the shooting.
