Iowa and Iowa State will not play for the old Cy-Hawk Trophy on Saturday and instead will compete for a different temporary trophy, according to Rick Klatt, Iowa's associate athletics director for external relations.

Klatt said details about the trophy likely will be released this afternoon. The decision was made in conjunction with Iowa, Iowa State and Iowa Corn Growers Association officials.

"It will think it will serve a great purpose for Saturday," Klatt said.

The schools played for the original Cy-Hawk Trophy from 1977 through 2010. Iowa Corn became the series sponsor earlier this year and helped commission a new football game trophy, which was unveiled Aug. 19 at the Iowa State Fair. The trophy was immediately and widely panned, prompting Iowa Corn officials to yank the trophy four days later.
