I just got off the phone with Mindy Williamson, the director of communications for the Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board.

I wanted to know if public opinion was swaying the Iowa Corn Growers to consider altering and/or changing the Cy-Hawk Trophy it unveiled last Friday at the Iowa State Fair.

She said a press release was forthcoming later today, but did say there will be a press conference Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Johnston to discuss "what's going on with the trophy."

"We digested all the negative and positive feedback," Williamson said. "It was overwhelming. That's why we're calling the press conference."

UPDATE: The press release says "Iowa Corn representatives along with University of Iowa and Iowa State University officials will be hosting a press conference with regard to the recently unveiled Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk trophy."
