You guys were negative on the D-line and this leaves me very worried. I already worry that Binns has checked his cleats at the door, that Daniels will get double teamed and the rest are under-achievers. Can you say something positive???
I think Cooper can be impactful this season, but I wouldn’t set the expectations at all-Big Ten. I think Carl Davis has potential, but I think his body is under construction. I think he can really be good. He just needs to explode better. He can get there. Now? I don’t know.
Alvis remains a mystery. I think he wants to be good and could be good. Binns has dominated games. He has that on film (Penn State). He is capable of doing that again. Daniels is an NFL-caliber D-linemen.
There are guys there. Are they going to be ready in two weeks? I can’t answer that definitively right now.
I still worry about Binns. If I was an opposing coach. I would run at him because if I have a decent OT and a blocking TE, I can blow Binns back 5 yards before any 2nd level player can react. I hope he can put together some dominating Penn State 2009 games. Their (PSU) OL lost the game for them at Happy Valley on that rainy, but wonderful night.
Totally agree, Richard.
Binns has played well against the run, but he has to show he can do it consistently and he has to do it now.
