A Dyersville man was electrocuted Friday morning while trying to reconnect his home’s electric service.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s office said that Jamie John Pottebaum, 38, was using an aluminum pole in an attempt to reach the top disconnect of his system when the pole made contact with a 7,200-volt power line, sending the electricity through his body.

The utility company told the sheriff’s office that it had cut electricity to Pottebaum’s home on April 21.
