At the Las Vegas Hilton, Iowa isn't a 'team of interest'

Jul. 24, 2011 7:23 pm
So, as always, I was curious about the over/under numbers on 2011 college football victories.
From this story at Covers.com:
The Hilton posted win totals on 35 teams of interest, leaving off Oregon and Ohio State because of “too much uncertainty,” sportsbook manager Ed Salmons told Covers.com.
Iowa is not one of those teams of interest. When some other casino's sports book posts numbers that include Iowa, I'll let you Hawkeye birds know. Or you can let me know.
From the Big Ten, these teams were "teams of interest":
Nebraska 9.5 wins
Wisconsin 9.5
Michigan State 7.5
Penn State 7.5
Michigan 7
So how would you handicappers go on those numbers, over or under? I'd take Nebraska under, for starters. With a schedule that includes games at Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan and home games against Ohio State, Michigan State and Iowa, 10-2 is a tall order. The closing three games alone are at Penn State and Michigan, followed by Iowa in Lincoln.
Bowls don't count in this, just regular-season games.
Boise State has the highest number, 10.5. The Broncos haven't lost more than one game in a season since 2007.
