IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Police have released audio of a 911 call that shows a college student from Ghana seeking help before his death but struggling to tell a dispatcher where he was located.

Authorities say Luther College student “Nabby” Baffour-Awuah died of hypothermia and exposure on Jan. 1 after being locked out of his dormitory following a night of drinking.

The Decorah Police Department had acknowledged in February he made a 911 call before his death but responders failed to locate him. He was found dead on a campus baseball field the next morning.

The department released the call’s audio this week to The Associated Press, which shows Baffour-Awuah told the dispatcher he was at Luther College. She pressed him to be more specific, but could not understand his attempts to do so.
