A 45-year-old Kalona man was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance precursor and possession of a controlled substance on Thursday after authorities say they found evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing at his residence.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office reports indicate that evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing was found at the residence of Roger A. Schropp, of 1431 Angle Road, after a State of Iowa Narcotics Search warrant was executed at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
During the search, authorities found found multiple “punched” starter fluid cans, Coleman cans, sludge containing lithium strips, drain opener, and pseudo-ephedrine boxes with empty blister packs. A small glass container containing methamphetamine was also located.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office complaint indicates that Schropp allegedly admitted to authorities that he had “cooked” methamphetamine four weeks ago.
Schropp was being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $6,000 cash bond Sunday morning.
Possession of a controlled substance precursor is a class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum $7,500 fine. Possession of a controlled substance is a serious misdemeanor.
