Juveniles in custody after police stop stolen vehicle in Hiawatha
Six juveniles were detained after police stopped a stolen sport-utility vehicle Tuesday morning.
Officers stopped the vehicle around 7:45 a.m. near the corner of Blairs Ferry Road and Edgewood Road. Police said a motorist reported it driving recklessly, and license plate information indicated it had been reported stolen.
Hiawatha Police Chief Dennis Marks said electronics, credit cards and other stolen items were found inside the SUV.
"It looks like they were out doing car burglaries overnight," Marks said.
Investigators were questioning the juveniles Tuesday. Charges are pending against several of them, Marks said.
