A power outage in the downtown area of Cedar Rapids has temporarily knocked out many of the traffic signal lights in central Cedar Rapids.
Authorities say to please use caution when approaching intersections. Reduce speed and drive defensively.
Alliant estimates that about 2,020 customers are without power.
Engineers believe they have found the problem, but will continue to investigate the situation throughout the night.
Some parts of the downtown area should expect to see power coming back on around 9:30pm.
A power outage occurred Monday evening in downtown Cedar Rapids in the Bankers Trust building on 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street SE. Police and fire officials have so far unconfirmed the exact cause of the outage. (Ellen Reiss/SourceMedia Group News)
