Four of Iowa’s 13 nonconference men’s basketball games in the coming season are against teams that played in postseason tournaments last season. Clemson was in the NCAA tournament. Creighton and Boise State were in the CBI and Northern Iowa was in the CIT.

Three Hawkeye opponents are from the Missouri Valley Conference. One is from the ACC, one from the Big 12. The rest are mid-majors.

UNI and Iowa State should be challenging road games, as always, and the game in Des Moines with Creighton figures to be tough. Clemson is as good a home nonconference foe as Iowa has had in a while. Boise State was good last year. Just about everything else? Filler.

Here are the 2010-2011 records of this year’s nonconference men’s basketball opponents of Iowa’s for the 2011-2012 season:

(All are Iowa home games unless otherwise indicated)

Chicago State  6-26

North Carolina A&T  15-17

Northern Illinois   9-21

vs. Creighton (Des Moines)  23-16

Campbell  12-19

IPFW  18-12

Clemson  22-12

Brown  11-17

at Northern Iowa  20-14

at Iowa State  16-16

Drake  13-18

Central Arkansas  5-24

Boise State  22-13

TOTAL RECORD OF IOWA’S 2011-2012 NONCONFERENCE OPPONENTS 192-225
