One hurt in accident south of Cedar Rapids

One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident south of Cedar Rapids on Monday night.

One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident south of Cedar Rapids on Monday night.

Authorities say one vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 near Honey Grove Road around 10:30 pm. Monday. The vehicle reportedly moved onto the shoulder, struck an unoccupied vehicle on the side of the road, and entered the ditch.

One of the passengers, Stephanie R. Banwart of Mount Vernon, was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A sergeant with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said Banwart’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident.
