An Iowa City woman is facing theft charges after she allegedly sold more than 1,000 square feet of the University of Iowa's carpet.
Christine M. Douglas, 36, of Meadow Ridge Lane, has been charged with second degree theft. Police say Douglas sold the carpet for $500. The UI says the carpet was worth more than $1,500.
The UI directory shows Douglas is an administrative assistant in the facilities management department. Her university salary totals about $52,000.
Online court records show Douglas has no previous theft charges.
