WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Waterloo man suspected of killing a woman and setting her house on fire has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
Glen Jackson is charged in the death of Sandra Nash. Firefighters found her body in her burning home on Jan. 31. Police say an autopsy showed she died of head injuries before the fire.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says Jackson was to appear before a Black Hawk County District judge for an arraignment on the murder charge on Thursday, but his attorney submitted a written plea of not guilty. Jackson earlier pleaded not guilty to first-degree arson.
The judge combined the cases, but no trial date was set.
Jackson remains in the county jail on bond of over $1 million.
