I don’t know if it made the cut, but Hlas and I come dangerously close to trading punches. You’ll have to see it. We’re talking “Clash of the Titans,” “Release the Krakken,” some real Rocky Balboa stuff.
My point, some of the national-type columns on the rhabdo were out of line. Not the one you all think, but there were two out there that I thought were full of crap. Hlas agreed, but also brought up the fact that we live here and if this had happened at Ohio State or somewhere, we probably would’ve been writing similar opinions.
Either way, it was some life. We need to bring a little more of that. How would you feel about Mike and Marc in the Morning? No? Well, that’s OK. We don’t have a radio station anymore.
I link these, no embed. Centralizing the pageviews, you know. Here’s the link.
Feedback on these is always appreciated.
Epic confrontation, you guys need to get Jon a dropdown mic and a ref suit for the next one, lol. I do SO appreciate you callin out the two boneheads that tried to take down the Hawkeye football team over this “freak”, it is what is, event. You need to get Dodd in there for the your next bout. (I got my money on you)
Still waiting for mass transfers.
Good stuff Marc. I don’t think you and Mike are that far apart on this though in reality. It makes for good tv or online viewing. LOL
You’re right, we’re not that far apart. It was a story that certainly deserved coverage and a lot of it. Where it gets tricky, IMO, is assessing and passing out any sort of blame or scorn or whatever, especially when, at the time, the facts were few and far between.
Ferentz’s absence and the UI PR rigidity on the front end opened the door. It created confusion and fueled nationwide media speculation. You lose control of the story and so then you see the outlandish commentary that obviously rankled Ferentz.
Marc, I thought you were much more objective on this than Mike ever was. He just couldn’t let go that there was some kind of “bad stuff” going on at Iowa FB even though there never was anything……. I appreciate your clean reporting on the facts known … and I have lost a lot of respect for Mike for being so crude. Keep up the good work Marc.
The UI could’ve helped itself with clear communication from the forefront.
It didn’t, but we’re in hindsight mode all the way around right now.
