CORALVILLE – CIVCO Medical Solutions has announced plans to move their product sales, marketing and engineering functions to Coralville in August.
The move bring about 50 jobs to Coralville an will clear the way for renovation of the company's Kalona manufacturing and distribution space later in the year.
Construction of a new building near Highway 6 and Jones Boulevard will begin soon. The facility will offer a sales and call center, and also will be home to a state of the art engineering design lab with advanced device prototyping and testing capabilities.
“We're excited on several levels regarding these critical moves,” said Charles Klasson, CIVCO's president and chief executive officer. “We are building on our investment in the Corridor and southeast Iowa, creating a broader presence, and enabling future growth.”
Mike Marshall, vice president of engineering for CIVCO, said the new Coralville site will be “a real shot in the arm” for the company's design engineering team.
“The new site will provide critical space for the testing and improvement of our expanding product line,” Marshall said. ”The engineering team is excited to make the move.”
Expansion of CIVCO's facilities comes as a result of the tremendous growth the company has experienced throughout its 30-year history.
After building a manufacturing facility in Kalona in 1992 and expanding the facility two times, CIVCO has grown beyond the Kalona location's capacity. Additional manufacturing space is needed to support the growth of the company, now with multiple locations in the U.S. and Europe, and selling into more than 80 countries.
CIVCO, founded in a Kalona storefront in 1981, has grown from a business focused on ultrasound accessories to designing, manufacturing and marketing innovative products for the medical imaging and radiation oncology fields. The company
has continued to add innovative products to its line, including the revolutionary eTRAX needle tracking and guidance system for minimally invasive procedures and the Protura Robotic Motion Management System for radiation therapy.
“A partial relocation of our people to an interim site in Coralville was completed last week, and we are excited to be in the new location,” said Robin Therme, vice president of multimodality imaging for CIVCO.
“As we are actively recruiting to fill new positions in our customer service, product management and marketing departments, we expect the location will attract a larger pool of candidates. And, the amenities of the Coralville area are an added plus for new as well as existing associates.”
