Seven arrested after Monticello drug bust

Seven people face charges after a drug bust at a Monticello apartment Sunday evening, authorities said.

Police executed a search warrant around 7:40 p.m. at 123 1/2 North Sycamore St., Apt. 2A, and the results of the search led to 17 criminal charges, according to Monticello Police Chief Britt Smith.

Charges filed include possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

The names of those arrested were not immediately released. They were taken to the Jones County Jail where further charges were pending, police said.
