Two Senate bicycle enthusiasts are taking another run at providing more safety for fellow cyclists on the road.

Sens. Joe Bolkcom, D-Iowa City, and Bill Dotzler, D-Waterloo, have filed a bill seeking to provide at least 3 feet of space between a passing motor vehicle and the operator of a bicycle.

“I suspect that the bill might not go too far this year, but we want to continue to further the discussion,” Dotzler said.
