Three killed, three hurt in Arlington mobile home fire

UPDATE: Three people, including two small children, were killed and three others were injured in a mobile home fire early today in the Fayette County community of Arlington.
The fire was reported at 4 a.m. at 5963 I Ave., three miles southwest of Arlington. Emergency personnel found the mobile home fully engulfed when they arrived at the scene.
Six people were inside the home when the fire broke out, and all six lived there, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. One adult and two small children were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Two adults and one child were taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein by for injuries suffered in the fire.
Don Handel, the mayor in Arlington and a member of its fire department, told the Des Moines Register that one of the victims was flown to an Iowa City hospital.
Names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and Iowa State Fire Marshals Office. Fire departments from Arlington, Maynard, Fayette and Oelwein responded to the scene.
Handel said there were several trailer homes on the rural property and the victims were in two adjacent trailers connected by a covered walkway. An occupant in another nearby trailer called for help, he said.
