_____________
I e-mailed the National Football Post’s Wes Bunting this morning, who is the website’s director of college scouting.
He replied about DJK’s NFL status with this:
“I thought he was a mid round guy….now this is bad… later rounds is best case, wouldn’t be shocked if he’s a free agent…”
__________
TV truck out in front of Kinnick in the Krause Family Plaza this morning. Didn’t catch the station.
Police talk on the scanner in the Iowa City offices squelches of lost millions and a high risk.
Off to the Johnson County Courthouse.
By the way, I think the emotional range of fandom is sadness to scorn.

DJK talk on the scanners. “Throwing away millions.” “Much more of a risk now.” Yep and yep.
Marc;
I have read all the posts from last nights news release and couldn’t agree more with you.
There is not an intelligent thought that was expressed. The trouble this young man got into was his choice alone, no one else made him do it.
This story is not a reflection on the State of Iowa, the University of Iowa, Adminstrators, students, student-athletes, nor coaches. It is not about winning or losing a game.
I believe each individual in this world is responsible for oneself. Sure, there are some of us that may need a little help from others and that is a good thing.
This young man made his decisions on his own. I hope he asks for and finds the help he needs to enjoy and be productive for the remainder of his life.
Own decisions. For me, that’s the end of the discussion, but I wonder how much his background plays into this.
That would be mitigating, but not an excuse.
Cry for help, maybe?
Very sad story indeed – but who’s picking the pictures running with the stories? Looks like BHGP’s editorial staff is selecting the photos…
That was me. It’s part of the story, his personality, but that’s a weak argument.
But I did change it to suit the more serious nature. Point taken, sir. I will be more careful.
No problem – keep up the outstanding work, sir.
You bet. I’m glad you brought that up, though. It’s good to have readers who question the thought process behind this.
Who isn’t disappointed but let’s also hear/read his side of the story. I for one would never want to be on the other side of the police accusations – here’s hoping the rush to judgement has been premature and incorrect.
This is a young kid, who made perhaps some bad choices – we almost all have done it, with differing degrees of course.
Let’s not forget we have a Bowl Game to Win.
Although I follow the Hawks I don’t have a clear picture of DJ as a person. Why was he in KF’s doghouse and barred from talking to the media? Did he constantly break team rules or was it just an everyday personality clash?
Ferentz has never given that a straight answer.
After wanting to talk all year he sure didn’t have much to say today.
I just finished way too many paragraphs commmenting on Hlas’ blog to repeat myself too many times on this issue, but i think we can now give Kirk some benefit-of-the-doubt as to why he remained hush-hush on DJK for so long. DJK’s actions yesterday spoke for themselves. Kirk won this PR battle, and he did it in a professional manner.
I have no doubt DJK was ready to “tell all” in February, as Kirk has said multiple times (whatever ‘all’ is?). There’s nothing to tell now, and even if there was, his word means nothing to anyone, especially Iowa fans who will never allow him back into the family, based on the stupidity and arrogance of the past 24 hrs, and what likely turns out to be the past 4-5 yrs.
DJK is a fake, and has been for years except for some talent running and catching a ball on the FB field. But who cares? Kirk is the hero, along with Hlas’ father-in-law, and many of those ‘types’ we all know in our lives.
