Fight in the locker room vs. Ohio State? Here's what Kirk Ferentz says
Nov. 24, 2010 7:05 pm
Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said he was unaware of a fight in the locker room between Iowa players in the minutes following the Hawkeyes' 20-17 loss to Ohio State last Saturday.
"If there was, I missed it," Ferentz said Wednesday on his weekly radio show. "I can't tell you much about that.
"The guys really played hard. Everyone was invested. Everybody was very disappointed after the game."
The fight was reported on Twitter by Kyle Heikkinen of www.wisconsin247.com. Heikkinen tweeted that running back Melvin Gordon, who took an official visit last weekend, decommitted from Iowa to Wisconsin. Heikkinen tweeted that Gordon's primary reason for switching schools was a post-game fight in the Iowa locker room that the coaches did not break up.
"If something did occur, I'm certainly not aware of it," Ferentz said. "It's entirely possible, but I'm not aware of it."
Gordon, who is from Kenosha, Wis., is one of the most highly sought running backs in the Midwest. Ferentz cannot talk about recruits until they sign a national letter of intent in February.
