Taylor out with another ACL; foot injury sidelines Nesbitt

Oct. 21, 2010 2:10 pm
IOWA CITY -- University of Iowa women's basketball player Theirra Taylor underwent reconstructive surgery on a knee Thursday, her third such surgery in 20 months, after tearing her left ACL in practice Monday.
Taylor, a sophomore, will miss the season.
"It takes away from our depth, somebody that is so athletic," said Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder.
"We're used to dealing with this sort of thing, and we'll do our best."
Ravaged by injuries last year, the Hawkeyes rallied to win 12 of their last 16 games and finished 20-14. Iowa reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Taylor played in 10 games, starting eight, before suffering a torn ACL in her right knee. She averaged 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
She tore her left ACL in high school.
Meanwhile, backup point guard Trisha Nesbitt is suffering from plantar fasciitis, one of the most common causes of heel pain. It involves pain and inflammation of a thick band of tissue, called the plantar fascia, which runs across the bottom of the foot - connecting the heel bone to the toes.
Bluder says Nesbitt will miss at least a month, and could be out the entire season. For the time being, Jaime Printy will back up Kamille Wahlin at the point.
