Culver Pans Gazette's Branstad Endorsement

Oct. 18, 2010 10:44 am
The Gazette endorsed Republican Terry Branstad for governor Sunday. Gov. Chet Culver gave his reaction to WHO radio.
"The thing that's most stunning about it, however, is he's against our flood recovery efforts in Cedar Rapids," said Culver, citing Branstad's opposition to I-JOBS, the bonding effort that's pumped tens of millions of dollars into several Cedar Rapids projects.
"He says we should do pay as you go flood recovery. He still has a lot of explaining to do to the folks over there about why he's against 63 projects in Linn County alone," Culver said.
"I think the Gazette missed the importance of the Iowa Jobs and Infrastructure Initative. But that's OK, they're entitled to make their decision. And we're going to pick up our fair share of endorsements."
