Not a lot of info on RB Jewel Hampton. He’s having an MRI this afternoon. Should know more tomorrow morning. It is an ACL injury. Sprain or tear? Don’t know yet.
LB Bruce Davis had an MRI this morning. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said after the game he was “cautiously optimistic” on Hampton and not optimistic with Davis, who’s special teams experience will certainly be missed.
Twitter friend @Blisser was a punter in college and went through a hip flexor strain. Not fun. It’s above your quad. A minor strain is one to three weeks. A large tear may take four to eight weeks to recover. Recovery is no kicking and very little activity.
I bring this up because K Daniel Murray is not on the two deeps for the fourth week. This leaves sophomore Trent Mossbrucker, who was last seen with both hands on his helmet after having a PAT blocked for Arizona to preserve a tie in the fourth quarter last week.
Running back Paki O’Meara is in the two deeps after leaving the game with dazed covering a kick. He’s listed No. 2 RB with Hampton’s status at least ”gone for a little bit here,” according to Ferentz on his TV Sunday night.
“I don’t know about Jewel long term, but we’re not optimistic about Bruce. We’ll know more after we get some tests this week,” Ferentz said.
