Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said it’s unlikely defensive coordinator Norm Parker will travel with the team to Arizona.
Parker, a diabetic, was hospitalized last week and did not coach in Saturday’s game at Kinnick Stadium.
“He is under care right now and doubtful for this week,” Ferentz said on the weekly Big Ten Coaches Teleconference.
“We’d all prefer Norm was with us, and we hope that he’s back with us soon.”
Wisconsin Coach Bret Bielema, who followed Ferentz in the teleconference, led off his statements by wishing Parker a speedy recovery.
“He’s one of the best coaches there is in the game,” said Bielema, a former Iowa assistant who coached linebackers alongside Parker from 1999 to 2001.
