Mitch King has found a home in the National Football League.
The Burlington native made it through the cuts by the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, as NFL teams had to trim their rosters to 53 players by late afternoon. The Colts announced their cuts late Saturday night.
King, a defensive tackle who graduated from Burlington High School and was an All-Big Ten player at Iowa, signed with the Colts in January as a free agent. He has spent all of preseason camp at No. 2 at one of the defensive tackle spots and even worked at times as a fullback in short-yardage situations and on special teams.
King had six tackles — four solos and two assists — in four preseason games. He started Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and had one tackle.
