Ferentz on center Josh Koeppel’s status

Here’s what Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said today on the Big Ten football coaches teleconference:
On center Josh Koeppel and his status after he suffered injuries in a car accident Monday: “We’ll wait and see. We’re not going to take any crazy chances. It’s really unfortunate with what happened. It’s one thing to play football and it’s another thing to take on a truck.”
Koeppel was struck by a truck while riding his motorcycle on Monday morning.
Ferentz said Koeppel has “scrapes, bruises, significance soreness.” He said Koeppel walked out of the building but “everything checked out.”

Would you say sell the car if he was in a car when the truck smashed into him? What if he were walking?
The point being, there is danger and risk in anything that you do. I'm quite glad that he is alright, but I think you are stretching it by advising that he sells something that he uses for transportation and also that he probably highly enjoys.
I'm very glad Josh is going to be OK, life does indeed involve risk! On the other hand, there's something comforting about knowing there's a Ferentz ready to make his first start at center. One game at a time to the promised land, go Hawks!

It is very common for someone to feel one way on the day of a collision and much worse the following day. The smart move is to give him some time to feel better. He has age going for him. Better to be safe than sorry.
